5 Sweet Reasons Why You Should Have A Vow Renewal

 In Advice, Styled Shoot

A vow renewal is a great way to reclaim your faith in each other. Especially since the world today can be a crazy scary place. Thankfully, you’ve picked your partner to see you through it all. On tough days, we sometimes forget those vows we made. Why not set aside one day to be reminded of all the reasons you chose to make the journey together.

This Anniversary Vow Renewal will give you 5 sweet reasons to renew and rekindle your love. It will take you back to your wedding day.

It’s A Day For Just You Two

Think of a vow renewal as a day for just the two of you to reconnect. On your wedding day, you are busy entertaining all your guests. As much as it’s great to celebrate with loved ones, it can be overwhelming. A vow renewal gives you a chance to focus on the promises you made to each other.

It’s A Way To Visit Familiar Places

You can have a vow renewal anywhere, but it should be a special place to you both. Consider the first place you met, where you had your first date or your favorite place to vacation. It should feel like home to both of you. The place that makes you the happiest without a care in the world.

If you met at college, take a trip down memory lane. Walk the grounds and remind each other of your favorite stories. Let the world slow down and spend time taking it all in. Regardless of what is going in your life now, be reminded of the simpler times when your love was new.

It Doesn’t Have To Be Fancy

It’s perfectly fine to keep a vow renewal simple. It doesn’t have to be a legally binding event with an officiant. Write your own vows and read them to each other. Remind each other of all the reasons you fell in love.

Spending a ton of money doesn’t equal proving your love. Spending time together and reconnecting is what is most important. You can even have your vow renewal at home annually on your anniversary.

It Can Be An Intimate Affair

If you want a redo of your wedding, why not have that with just the two of you? It’s possible there are things about your wedding day you’d like to change. Now is your opportunity to do something about it.

Keeping it simple makes it intimate and cost effective. Only recreate the things from your wedding day that are most important to you. If you splurge on one thing, I’d say let it be hiring a photographer. They can take photos as you recreate your newlywed glow.

It’s A Way To Show Your Love

If you have children in your life, you might want to involve them too. They may not have been present for your wedding day. Including them is a way to show them your commitment to each other.

In today’s world, kids are seeing relationships play out everywhere they go. Including on all their electronic devices and favorite movies or shows. The best example a child gets of love is the one directly in front of them from their parents.

Let them see what your relationship means to each other. Remind them that your love for each other, and for them, is what makes you a family. Make your vows to each other and include them. Promise to always love each other as a family no matter what.

A Vow Renewal Is What You Make It

As you can see, there are many ways to go about a vow renewal. It can be intimate, a family affair, a redo of your day, or budget friendly at home. There honestly is no right or wrong way. Just take the time to recommit to your love and that is all you need.

I would love to have a vow renewal for our 20th or 25th anniversary. We celebrate 10 years of marriage this summer and man has our relationship evolved since having a family!

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately. My husband and I eloped almost 7 years ago and now I think I might want to do a vow renewal with my kids present!

Oh gosh, I hadn’t thought about renewal of vows yet as I’m thinking it’s still too early. I think it would be wonderful to have one soon.

Such nice ideas! Plus, I always complain about my wedding day photography – it’d be a chance to do it again a little differently!

This is so sweet 💕 as someone planning my wedding I’d like to think that in 10 or 15 years we could celebrate our love all over again!

I love vow renewals! And I think they are becoming more popular, I’m getting lots of couples renewing their vows in Central Park.

I do love the idea of a vow renewal, but whenever I hear about a couple having a vow renewal I can’t help myself thinking “which one them cheated?” or “what marital problems have they been having?”

In the UK vow renewals have come with that connotation for quite some time now. Do vow renewals not have that image in the US?

That’s interesting! No, it’s not common to think that someone went astray or there are issues with a vow renewal. In my experience, it’s a day for the couple to celebrate their love. Sometimes it’s a full blown wedding celebration. In those cases, it’s normally because the couple had a courthouse wedding the first time. So for their 10 year anniversary, for example, they decide to have a more traditional wedding day vow renewal. It’s very popular to do vow renewals on cruise lines or destination spots since they are usually all-inclusive.
