The Modern Romance of a Florida Destination Wedding
Kama and Jamie chose a Florida destination wedding because it’s where they grew up. The couple’s inspiration centered around modern romance. Their venue the Addison was just that, romantic and simply breathtaking. Large, beautiful, banyan trees surround the courtyard area where the wedding took place. The atmosphere symbolized the intimacy they share as a couple. Kama shares with us all about her black, white, and silver Florida destination wedding day.
Most Sentimental Moment
The happiest part of the day was our first look! It was emotional but absolutely, without a doubt, the greatest emotions I’d ever felt!! As soon as I saw my husband to be, all of my bottled up nerves were instantly gone. I just knew from that moment it was going to be the best day ever!
We had a Jewish wedding, married by a Rabbi under a breathtaking rose covered chuppah. Neither of us is religious by nature so made it personal with a more spiritual twist. Before our ceremony, we had the special Ketubah (Jewish marriage license) signing. It’s what makes our union official by the Rabbi under Jewish law.
Our ceremony was immediately following and it was romantic and sweet, exactly what we wanted. We read our own vows and broke the glass for good luck as everyone yelled, Mazel Tov! Before dinner started, my Dad and Uncle said the traditional blessings over the wine and challah which was extra special.
Wedding Party Attire
My stunning dress was made by Martina Liana. For my ladies, my opinion is that people look best when they feel most comfortable. I selected 8 dresses for my bridesmaids so they could choose which one they felt best in. They all had the same Hayley Paige floor length bridesmaid dresses that were chiffon material but different tops.
The flower girls’ dresses were custom made. The top of their ivory dresses was matching lace to my dress and the bottoms were chiffon, matching my bridesmaids. The groomsmen rented from The Black Tux, while Jamie wore a Calvin Klein tuxedo. The ring bearer got his tuxedo from Men’s Warehouse to match the groomsmen.
How We Personalized It
Everything was custom including our logos for the photo booth and lighting, our invitations, coasters, menus, and all the signs. I even customized the weekend schedules, welcome bags, and water bottles for the out of state guests! I even incorporated our hashtag #kamjam2018 on the flip-flops. One of my bridesmaids made me an unbelievable 8-foot flower wall. Our amazing florist set it up at The Addison for us on the wedding day.
Our beautiful centerpieces were made up of all white roses, hydrangeas, lisianthus, and matthiolas. Eleven of our tables all had white orchids submerged in water in the bottom of tall glass vases. These arrangements had hanging crystals and were set atop a mirrored base with candles surrounding. The other twelve tables had three varying height cylinder vases with submerged orchids and hanging crystals. They were simply stunning!
I brought up the idea that I wanted to do a choreographed dance for our first dance at our wedding. To my surprise, on Valentine’s Day of last year, my husband purchased our first dance lesson. After about 15 lessons, we were ready to dance!! At our wedding, all the guests were instructed to go outside under the gorgeous banyan trees and light sparklers. My husband and I came out of the closed doors and started our first dance to A Thousand Years by Christina Perri. It was such an unexpected surprise because this is so unlike my husband and me to break out in a choreographed dance.
Best Part Of The Planning Process
It’s very hard to pick a favorite part of the wedding planning process because I loved planning every last detail. I would probably have to say that the cake tasting with my fiancé was my favorite part. I was eating healthy and working out really hard throughout the entire planning process. Getting to taste all the different kinds of cakes was extremely exciting for me, as you could imagine! We chose a vanilla cake with Oreo mousse filling. It was incredible and lately, I’ve been dreaming of eating it again on our first anniversary.
Favorite Part With Friends And Family
Celebrating with our friends and family was what our day was all about. After our most romantic, outdoor ceremony and cocktail hour, we sat down for a formal dinner with our guests. Everybody had the chance to mingle and enjoy a fabulous meal before being led to our ultimate dance party.
