Inspiration for Your Intimate Bed and Breakfast Wedding
Imagine you are in Texas, it is your wedding day, and you wake up to snow! The sun ends up coming out and melting it all before the ceremony. There’s nothing like Texas weather to throw you for a loop! Since it is still chilly, the mother of the bride adds a cute blanket station for the guests. By the end of the night, the wedding party is wearing fur coats. Well, that is how Katie and Mike’s intimate bed and breakfast wedding turned out.
Dating and Engagement
Mike and Katie have known of each other for quite a while. Mike’s big brother Brian and my big brother Kevin are best friends. One night, at a Dallas Firefighter charity event, Brian got injured. Katie is an ER nurse and went to the hospital to help take care of him. After Brian was all stitched up, Mike gave her a ride home. They started dating the next day.
About a year before we got married, Mike took Katie out to Joshua Tree. As Katie describes it, the day he proposed was perfect. We woke up with the sun and went hiking in Joshua Tree State Park. After dinner, Mike and I went to lay in the hammock and watch the sunset. Watching the sun lower over the desert trees, with Elton John crooning in the background, Mike looked over at me and asked me to be his wife.
An Intimate Wedding
Mike and I value family. That is why we had our wedding at the Inn on Lake Granbury. It was an opportunity to spend all weekend enjoying the company of those we love most in this world. With only 60 guests in attendance, it was a very intimate wedding.
We wanted our wedding to reflect the beauty of nature. The arbor we were married under was made by my uncle. It now sits in our garden at home.
I am a huge Harry Potter fan, so we wanted to incorporate that magic into our wedding day. The cake toppers on our wedding cake represent Lilly and James Potter’s Patronus.
All of our flowers were locally sourced an put together by Debbie at the Inn on Lake Granbury. She has quite the eye for bouquets. The greenery she uses is grown in the gardens at the venue.
Gifts From The Bride
For my bridesmaid gifts, I had Micaela come in and do all the girls’ hair and makeup. It is such a wonderful time, getting ready together with all my favorite people. Micaela made me feel the most beautiful I have ever felt in my life.
The Cvejanovich’s are all obsessed with Golden Retrievers. Mike is no exception to this and he loves his golden, Gnarley. For Mike’s wedding present, a local artist painted a portrait of Gnarley. My only regret was that I wasn’t around to see his face when he opened it!
The Perfect Gown
It took me a while to pick out the perfect dress. I was shopping at a&be and couldn’t take my eyes off of one particular gown. I kept walking by it, but it wasn’t what I had pictured in my mind. Finally, I tried it on, and it was that perfect moment of clarity. I love the detail and architecture of my gown. Mike felt like 007 in his navy tuxedo.
Budgeting is so important. Weddings can get out of hand quickly. When you decide what your budget is, stick to it. Mike and I were so stressed out trying to plan the wedding we thought we wanted. Once we came up with a budget, we stuck to it and found the perfect place to get married, without breaking the bank!
