How To Celebrate Your First Anniversary With Your Wedding Dress

In Brides Confess!, Dresses, Makeup, and Hair

I know everyone says as you get older, time only goes by faster. I’ve been hearing that for the last 15+ years. Yet every year it doesn’t cease to amaze me how quickly it goes by. So as my husband and I were coming up to our first anniversary it seemed surreal.

How to Celebrate Your First Anniversary With Your Wedding Dress.

Wedding Reflections

As I was reflecting back to our wedding night, the only thing I wish I could have had more of was time. More time with family, more time to catch up with friends, and definitely more time to dance in my dress! My husband agreed that the night went by too fast, just like we were warned it would.

Wedding Dress Love

I absolutely love my dress and like most brides, I have never felt prettier than on our wedding day. It took so much time and energy to find the perfect dress. Then just like that, the night was over. It was time for me to put the most beautiful (and expensive) piece of clothing I own away in a box for good.

I felt like I didn’t get the chance to fully enjoy myself in it. I wanted a chance to twirl in that dress again, and to my surprise, my husband agreed. So why not recreate some of the night again?

First Anniversary

My husband suggested we take the dress with us to Mexico! Our trip to Los Cabos for our first anniversary was booked so I thought it was a great idea.

After telling a few friends, some of them suggested we have professional pictures taken. My husband’s great idea now turned into a brilliant one. And since first anniversaries are supposed to be paper themed, I felt it was a close enough fit!

Picture Perfect

A month before the trip so I started looking around for photographers. We went with Gonzalo Verdeja for the artistry his photos portray. He was fun, easy to work with, responsive, and did a better job than I could have imagined. He helped us make this first anniversary truly special, and one to never forget.

Such a fun way to ring in your first year of marriage together. I’ve always wondered why we buy such expensive dresses only to wear them once, so I’m thrilled to see you get some use out of yours again in such a special way!

What a great idea! I want to do this for our tenth anniversary next year (if I can lose about 15lbs so I can fit back into my dress lol). These pictures turned out beautiful.

What a great idea! I’m celebrating my 21 year anniversary this year and while I can dig mine out, I’m not quite sure it will still fit. Hmmm, maybe I should try, just for fun 😉

This is something I’m going to recommend to everyone from Bridesmade Confessions. Superb idea. I would love to do that. ONly I don’t fit into my dress anymore … plus indian bridal dresses are super cumbersome. Maybe I’ll fit myself for a white dress soon. 🙂
