How To Host a Bright and Fun Southern Engagement Brunch
Good friends, good food, cocktails, yard games, and Lily Pulitzer are the staples of any true Southern affair. If you find yourself at a party with these elements, there’s a strong likelihood you are celebrating in the Carolinas. Regardless of where you live, you can create a beautiful southern engagement brunch for the lucky bride in your life.
Bridesmaids and Sisters
The morning was a girls only affair complete with hair and makeup to get the bride and her besties party ready. In true sorority girl fashion, these girls donned their “will you be my bridesmaid” matching monogrammed robes. All while sipping on mimosas, and giggling about the good old days. Later, their partners joined them for brunch later in the day.
The food at any event should be memorable, fun, and delicious! This Southern comfort menu was the perfect example of elevated traditional fare. For starters, there was chicken and waffles, pimento cheese bites, and a classic shrimp cocktail. Next, there was a spread of classic southern dessert favorites like banana pudding shooters. The buffet style table showcased decorated with pops of pink. Guests dined al fresco at beautifully magnolia adorned tables. No celebration is complete without sipping signature champagne and whiskey cocktails.
One way to ensure a good time, after you’ve fed them of course, is to offer up a good game or two. Yard games have been a southern tradition since the invention of the frisbee. Hence why this party had no shortage of fun and sophisticated games to play. Corn hole, jumbo chess, and croquet provided some friendly competition between out Southern Belles and Beaux.
The south is home to the bright and bold patterns of Lily Pulitzer. Styling a party inspired by these punchy colors ensures a fashion-forward look. Have your guests wear their favorite Lily dress or seersucker bowtie is a guaranteed way to ensure a cohesive look all around. Not to mention, it makes for a very pretty picture.
