When you’re the girl in your friend group that loves wine; you get relied on a lot to plan social gatherings. Happy hours, Saturday nights out, bridal showers and bachelorette parties. A few weekends ago was the first bachelorette party I’ve attended. Typically, the maid of honor is responsible for the planning, but on this one, they reached out for help from me. The bride was a wine loving bachelorette!
Pick a Location
We chose the “Vegas of the East Coast” aka Atlantic City as our destination for a weekend of debauchery. I suggest that if you’re going to a destination for your party, make it at least two nights. We chose to do Friday and Saturday night, which gave us more time to really enjoy the area and make sure we had enough time to fit in everything we planned to do.
We spent our days at the beach and pool relaxing, followed by dinner and then out to clubs for drinking and dancing. Our bride-to-be wore a tiara with a little veil, a sash and we all had adorable pins that said “team bride” on them. We also had props for photos!
The great thing about bachelorette parties is you can do whatever you want. We opted for the traditional clubbing route, but the possibilities are endless. You can go to a vineyard, a spa, a beach, the mountains, a cabin or even another country. It’s just about enjoying your “last hurrah”.
Keep This In Mind
Some things I’ve learned about bachelorette parties:
- Patience - We had 15 women at this bachelorette party and it can definitely get overwhelming. Just remember that you are there to have fun and celebrate one of your close friends getting married. So if you need to, you can just drink a lot of wine to help you relax.
- Plan ahead - It is very important to have dinner reservations, tables, clubs etc. all set up to make the night as easy as possible. It can be hard having so many opinions, especially if you decided to plan things last-minute. Having a game plan makes your life much easier.
- Have a good time - The most important thing is to make sure you enjoy yourself. I was able to make memories that I will always remember with some of my closest friends. You only get married once (hopefully!) so make it a memorable experience. Wedding planning is stressful (from what I hear) and the bachelorette party is a time to unwind and enjoy yourself.
- It’s all about the bride – Sometimes you can forget, but this party is all about your bride to be. It’s her wedding, her bridal shower, her bachelorette party. Be sure to keep her best interest in mind when planning everything.
