I threw my best friend Tiffany a bridal shower a few years ago with a Breakfast at Tiffany’s shower theme. I went nuts at the party store, buying anything and everything with sparkles and pearls. It was a relatively simple decorating job with Tiffany blue, white, and some glitter or silver pieces here and there.
Vistaprint is one of my favorites when it comes to having things printed. I bought these invitations and some plain white envelopes.
I asked that everyone wear their favorite little black dress in honor of the movie and although I was worried people would think it was bold to ask them to wear something particular, everyone showed up in a black dress and thought the idea was fun!
I stuck with the classics. We played the purse game with a free printable list I found online. I also bought a package of pearl necklaces and handed everyone one. I gave them a list of words that were off limits for the entire day (wedding, bride, Brian the groom’s name) and if someone caught you saying one of the words you gave them your necklace. The person with the most necklaces at the end of the party won a prize! Everyone loved this game and it required very little cost.
Let’s face it, being in a bridal party can be expensive! Don’t kill yourself over extravagant prizes. It’s about the bride, not about the prizes for the guest. If you want to stay on theme you could do a silver picture frame or a copy of the movie.
Food & Drink
My stepsister made some amazing cupcakes with Tiffany blue icing and glitter and pearl sprinkles. For the rest of the food, it was family style comfort food. If the bride wants real food, go ahead and make it for her even if it doesn’t fit your theme. In all honesty I envisioned Tiffany blue chocolate dipped pretzels and cute little tea sandwiches, but I have to admit, it was easier to go with her aunt’s home cooked food and it took a huge load off my shoulders, plus it was delicious!
The one thing I did have on-theme, other than the cupcakes, was this Tiffany blue cocktail. I actually went crazy and bought a giant beverage dispenser and basically made 3 pitchers worth of this cocktail. It was a large party, but also we like to drink!
To make a pitcher (about ten 8oz glasses):
- 3-3/4 cup vodka
- 1/2 cup blue curacao
- 1/2 cup triple sec
- 5 cups lemonade
- Add everything to the pitcher with a good amount of ice and stir to chill.
It was a very low-stress day since I’d planned it well and had some help from the bride’s amazing aunts and her mom. Don’t be afraid to get the family involved to help, they’re more than happy to, and you’ll be surprised how much lighter you feel with some help. It’s supposed to be a fun day for you to celebrate with your best friend, not a day full of stress!
